Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), has expressed his deep gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu for extending the lease of the Garbham Manganese Mine. The extension is crucial for RINL, ensuring a steady supply of manganese ore needed for its production processes.

Shri Atul Bhatt, Chairman and Managing Director of RINL, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu for extending the lease of the Garbham Manganese Mine. This extension secures a vital resource for RINL, ensuring the availability of manganese ore essential for its blast furnace operations.

The Garbham Manganese Mine, covering an area of 654 acres, is a critical asset for RINL. The company consumes approximately 6,000 tons of manganese per annum, which is used in its blast furnaces for producing hot metal. The lease extension guarantees the continued operation of this essential supply chain component.

“This lease extension is a significant milestone for RINL and reflects the strong partnership between industry and government,” said Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD of RINL.

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) is a major player in India’s steel industry, with a strong focus on self-sufficiency in raw materials. The Garbham Manganese Mine has been a longstanding supplier of manganese ore to RINL, playing a key role in its production processes.

The lease extension not only secures RINL’s raw material needs but also highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between government bodies and industrial entities in driving regional and national economic growth.

While the extension of the lease is seen as a positive development, some environmentalists have raised concerns about the long-term ecological impact of mining activities in the region.

Shri Atul Bhatt also acknowledged the efforts of Shri Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLA of Gazuwaka, and Shri M. Sri Bharat, Member of Parliament, Visakhapatnam, whose relentless advocacy was instrumental in securing the lease extension.

The extension of the Garbham Manganese Mine lease is a testament to the effective collaboration between RINL and the Andhra Pradesh government, ensuring the continued growth of the steel industry while contributing to the economic development of the region.
