Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation for various development projects in Ahmedabad worth ₹1003 crore. These projects aim to make Ahmedabad a future-ready and fully developed city, with a focus on sustainability, including a pledge to plant 3 million trees in 100 days.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alongside Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various projects under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, amounting to ₹1003 crore. The projects include initiatives in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, such as the Oxygen Park in Thaltej, a new swimming pool, and a gym in Makarba.

Amit Shah highlighted that ₹730 crore worth of these development projects were executed in the Gandhinagar constituency. Over the past five years, development projects worth ₹5000 crore have been carried out annually in this constituency. The inaugurated projects focus on public health, sanitation, and environmental sustainability, including the significant Mission 3 Million Tree Scheme.

“In our lifetime, we should plant as many trees as needed to produce the same amount of oxygen as the carbon dioxide we emit,” stated Amit Shah, emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility.

The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a nationwide campaign encouraging citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader focus on combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.

The projects are expected to enhance the quality of life in Ahmedabad by improving public amenities, creating green spaces, and promoting environmental awareness. The Mission 3 Million Tree Scheme aims to mitigate the impact of climate change and foster a greener environment for future generations.

While the development projects are commendable, some critics argue that the government should also focus on improving basic infrastructure and addressing issues like traffic congestion and pollution, which continue to plague the city.

Amit Shah called upon residents to actively participate in the tree-planting initiative, stressing that even the most ambitious government efforts need public support to succeed.

The inauguration of these projects marks a significant step towards achieving a future-ready and fully developed Ahmedabad. With continued efforts from both the government and citizens, the city is poised to set new benchmarks in urban development and environmental sustainability.
