Delhi-based women refugees from Pakistan celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhi to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The event highlighted the significance of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which has provided these women with Indian citizenship, ensuring their safety and security in the country.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women refugees from Pakistan residing in Delhi tied rakhi to Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The event was symbolic of the protection and safety the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) has offered to these refugees, who have been granted Indian citizenship under the act.
Alongside the women refugees, Sadhvi Rithambara and Brahmakumari sisters also participated in the Raksha Bandhan celebrations with Piyush Goyal. The minister emphasized that the Citizenship Act has restored dignity and security to those who sought refuge in India due to persecution in neighboring countries.
“The Citizenship (Amendment) Act has provided respect and safety that is your right,” stated Piyush Goyal during the event, expressing his joy at celebrating Raksha Bandhan with the refugees.
