Bharti Airtel, one of the leading Indian telecommunications service providers, today announced the launch of its network in Phobrang, a village sitting right on the Indo-China border. Following this development, Airtel has become the initial service provider to take connectivity to India’s farthest border village. But the network roll-out didn’t come without roadblocks.
Team Airtel had to cross the most treacherous terrains, suffer extreme climatic conditions, and traverse highly sensitive zones. In spite of all odds, Airtel’s team was undeterred in its commitment to ensure that the residents of Phobrang and its visitors were able to access a network which they could depend upon.
Phobrang is situated at an altitude of 15,000 feet, making it one of the remotest villages in the region. It is also renowned for hosting India’s highest herbal garden. This new network, when deployed in this part of the region, is going to benefit about 2,000 households with crucial connectivity and access to all its value-added services.
This is part of Airtel’s wide plan to take its network to the deepest parts of the country in difficult terrains, hence living up to the commitment of promoting connectivity in the country. With the successful commissioning of the project in Phobrang, Airtel continues to demonstrate its ability to overcome geographical challenges by delivering essential communication services to some of the nation’s most remote communities.
