Samsung Electronics has introduced significant updates to its AI-powered food and recipe platform, Samsung Food+, at IFA 2024. Celebrating its first anniversary, the platform has gained over six million users since its launch in 2023. New features like Vision AI technology allow users to add ingredients to their Food List by snapping a photo with their smartphone, streamlining meal planning and reducing food waste.

The Samsung Food+ subscription service now integrates personalized meal plans based on individual health profiles and dietary goals. With Vision AI, users can manage ingredients, automatically add items to their Food List, and receive recipe recommendations that prioritize items nearing their use-by dates. These intelligent features are designed to help users achieve healthier lifestyles and reduce food waste.

As people look to get more out of their food — with help from their appliances — we’re thrilled to be upgrading Samsung Food with powerful new functionalities.

Launched in 2023, Samsung Food has rapidly become a favorite tool for meal planning and cooking, with popular features like Recipe functions, Shopping Lists, and Meal Planners. The platform supports eight languages and is available in 104 countries, offering users a seamless food management experience across Samsung devices.

The latest upgrades to Samsung Food+ are expected to have a significant impact on reducing food waste, helping users maximize the use of ingredients in their kitchens while maintaining healthy eating habits. These advancements will likely boost the platform’s appeal to health-conscious consumers and families seeking convenience and sustainability in their daily food routines.

Despite these advancements, some users may find the $6.99 monthly subscription fee for Samsung Food+ a potential barrier. Additionally, while Vision AI improves convenience, users may question its accuracy and efficiency in real-world scenarios.

Samsung Food+ also supports sustainable food practices by recommending recipes based on what users already have in their kitchens. “Our focus is on enhancing user experiences with AI to support healthier and simpler meal preparation,” added Lee.

Samsung Food+ continues to evolve with cutting-edge technology aimed at simplifying food management and promoting healthier living. As the platform expands its features, Samsung is setting a new standard in the world of smart cooking, making it easier for users to enjoy fresh, delicious meals with less effort.
