Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, chaired her first national-level meeting with Ministers of Women and Child Development, Social Welfare from States, and Administrators/Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories via video conferencing on August 10, 2024. The meeting was convened to review the progress of ongoing programs and discuss future strategies for various key initiatives under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
A total of 21 out of 28 State Ministers participated in this crucial meeting. Smt. Annpurna Devi highlighted the importance of close collaboration between the Central and State Governments to ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach the grassroots level. She emphasized that such collaboration is essential not only for the development of individual states but also for the overall progress of the country, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
During the meeting, Smt. Annpurna Devi specifically focused on the Ministry’s flagship programs: Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti. She stressed that the success of these initiatives depends on the active cooperation between the Centre and the States. “Our aim is to ensure that the benefits of our efforts reach the grassroots level, for which it is imperative to work closely with the States. This will not only lead to the development of the States but will also contribute to the overall progress of our country,” she stated.
State Ministers in attendance shared updates on their respective efforts towards the empowerment and well-being of women and children. They expressed appreciation for the Union Minister’s engagement and noted that such high-level discussions would provide enhanced momentum to the implementation of the three Missions at the state level, complementing their ongoing efforts.
Smt. Annpurna Devi assured the participants of continued periodic engagement at her level to monitor progress and address challenges in implementing these critical initiatives. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to promoting an inclusive environment and pursuing policies that support the empowerment and well-being of women and children across India.
