Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, met today with an energetic group of 500 youth volunteers in New Delhi. The 400 volunteers belong to NSS, and the rest are from MY Bharat, representing different parts of India. They were special invitees as guests to attend the 2024 Independence Day ceremony.
Dr. Mandaviya lauded the enthusiasm and zeal of the young volunteers in their respective service areas, terming them “the real torchbearers of change and development” in India. He added that serving others has been a tradition in India’s way of life: “Helping each other is our tradition. These values will help you to come up with solutions when facing challenges and finally achieve a developed India.”
The Union Minister emphasized the importance of youth involvement in community service and national development, appealing to the volunteers to continue contributing across various fields. He linked their work to the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—to make India a developed country by 2047.
In this regard, he recognized the potential within the young population and noted the government’s efforts in creating numerous opportunities to empower young people. He cited MUDRA Yojana, Start-Up India, and Khelo India as some of the ways the government encourages entrepreneurship, innovation, and sports talent.
Dr. Mandaviya also urged the volunteers to visit key landmarks in New Delhi, such as the National War Memorial, Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, and Kartavya Path, to deepen their understanding of the nation’s heritage.
Union Minister of State Smt. Raksha Khadse lauded the volunteers for their community work, whether it be the recent “Meri Mati, Mera Desh” campaign or other regular activities like plantation drives, blood donation, and road safety. The entire session was highly interactive, with volunteers sharing their experiences and opinions to help further enrich the programs of MY Bharat.
