Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled two key initiatives under Mission Karmayogi—the ‘Amrit Gyan Kosh’ and ‘Faculty Development’ portals—at the Civil Service Training Institutions Convention held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. These platforms are designed to revolutionize civil service training and capacity building in India, providing resources and development opportunities for civil servants and faculty alike.
The ‘Amrit Gyan Kosh’ portal serves as a comprehensive knowledge bank, offering India-centric case studies and learning resources. Dr. Singh emphasized that this initiative allows civil service training institutions to rely on indigenous knowledge materials rather than depending on foreign sources. “Our shared learning resources knowledge bank will enable institutes to access India-centric case studies instead of always relying on the West for knowledge material,” he stated.
The ‘Faculty Development’ portal aims to enhance the teaching capabilities of practitioners and faculty members involved in training civil servants. Dr. Singh noted that being an expert practitioner does not necessarily translate to being an effective teacher. The Faculty Development Programme will ensure that those delivering knowledge are well-equipped to do so effectively.
During the event, Dr. Singh also announced that 31 lakh government employees are trained annually under Mission Karmayogi, marking a significant shift in how civil service training is approached. The mission, which was conceptualized as a part of PM Modi’s vision, extends capacity building beyond traditional civil servants to include anyone wishing to contribute to the nation.
Dr. Singh also launched 13 Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) aimed at continuous enhancement of training institutions. Additionally, 20 ministries received accreditation, further strengthening the foundation of a more competent and responsive civil service.
Highlighting the achievements of the National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutions (NSCSTI), Dr. Singh noted that over 140 training institutes have been accredited, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning and competency-driven capacity building.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Singh reiterated the significance of Mission Karmayogi and the National Capacity Building Commission (NCBC) in achieving the vision of India @2047, stressing the need for collaboration across sectors to enhance governance and public service delivery.
The event saw participation from key officials, including Adil Zainulbhai, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission, who joined online, and senior officials from 20 accredited ministries. Directors of Civil Service Training Institutions (CSTIs) from across India were also in attendance.
